Disarming Disasters is a resilience game of forecast based on decision making. To make their “Village” successful they have to find a way to better communicate with each other and collaborate to make good decisions regarding disaster protection. The better they cooperate, the better they community will prosper.

 

 

Gameplay

Facilitator explains the rules of the game to the participants.

Players are divided into 3 groups – “Villages”.

Players make individual and collaborative decisions whether to protect themselves against the flood or drought.

Each decision has its cost. Players who choose to seek disaster protection will have to pay fixed cost.

The magnitude of flood and drought is decided by the roll of the die.

Facilitator ends the game with debriefing and discussion with the players about the results’ connection to the real-life situations.
