The Disaster in my backyard game presents the problems caused by heavy rains and flood. In the game, players need to manage the flow of the information and organize the evacuation of the residents from areas affected by the flood. But it’s only one of the game’s scenarios. You can change it as you wish to better fit the problems from your “backyard”.

 

 

Gameplay

Facilitator explains the rules of the game.

layers are divided into teams,  each team chooses a leader. The different teams represent different organizations.

Each team ca get points by doing certain actions such as  rescuing victims.

The game provides teams with real-time information on the status of the scores and the game progress.

Facilitator presents the results of the game and then starts debriefing.

The game can be played at any location with multiple rooms or buildings. A smaller location will increase the intensity of the game but also makes it more demanding for the game managers. Depending on factors such as the available facilities, budget and volunteers and effects can be added to the game to add more realism. These however have no effect on the mechanics of the game itself.
