Dissolving Disasters‘ players become donors or subsistence farmers and face changing risks. They make decisions and must deal with its consequences. Should they protect themselves against the floods or droughts? It’s players’ decision.

Gameplay

Facilitator explains the rules of the game to the participants.

Players make decisions whether to protect themselves against the flood or drought.

Each decision has its cost. Players who choose to seek disaster protection will have to pay fixed cost.

The magnitude of flood and drought is decided by the roll of the die.

Facilitator ends the game with debriefing and discussion with the players about the results’ connection to the real-life situations.
